Burbank is like a precious gem tucked between Los Angeles and the rest of the San Fernando Valley. Single-family homes make up the majority of the housing in the area but the city that is home to Warner Bros. Studios, NBC and Cartoon Network is also peopled by young singles and entertainment professionals.
Downtown Burbank is a strip on San Fernando Boulevard that is full of restaurants and specialty shops. On any given Saturday afternoon you will see kids eating at the local yogurt shop, young couples getting Korean barbecue takeout and maybe a photographer or two snapping shots of people reading on the conveniently placed benches.
Burbank prides itself on being its own city. Technically set apart from the rest of LA, it takes care of its own with a water and power department, police station, fire station, public school system and its own unique way of running things. It's also very, very clean and safe. The 5 and 134 freeways are right there so Hollywood, Sherman Oaks or Pasadena are all just a hop, skip and a jump away. Let's also not forget that the Bob Hope airport, the biggest commercial airport in Los Angeles until LAX came along, is conveniently close as well.
Although the housing crisis has hit California very hard, several desirable neighborhoods in Burbank have maintained stable prices.
