It's tempting to succumb to the headlines of late, to buckle under the smattering of negative rhetoric in the daily broadcast that can take the wind out of our sails. The language of today's market reports and financial forecasts is enough to make anyone question the meaning of life! From "bailouts" to "buyouts," today's topics are a challenge to anyone's mindset and self-talk. You know, those little inner voices we all hear whispering to us. What are they saying to you right now? Or more to the point, what are you allowing them to say?

This is where the nose meets the grindstone. Determination is undeniably necessary in our success-seeking society, as well as in times where we are challenged to bask in the glow of satisfaction. The bottom line is... whaddyathinkin'?

Positive thought is a practice that will take you through all of life's little challenges. And what's more, it's contagious! In a fast-paced world where it seems as if success is everything, it is important to remember to be more about making a life and less about making a living.

This is where you go back to school, back to the basics. Not just Real Estate 101, but You & Me 101. Taking the time to reconnect with your world, your family, your loved ones, your church family, your hobby family, whomever. Whatever your world is, make it about your connections, and not just your sphere. Make a specific effort to think more about humanity, and to be a part of it. Keep the connections about connecting and not just networking, and you will keep the faith in yourself alive. Live a life that is more about balance and less about balance sheets.

After reading the morning stock report and the day's headlines, give yourself an appropriate amount of time to mourn alone and sort out your thoughts. Then, once your mourning period is over, take a deep breath and shake it off, and get on with the job of being true to yourself and your connections. Seeking out our connections on a daily basis helps keep the balance in our lives, helps keeps ourselves grounded and real. You're here, and it's now. What you do with it is up to you, as always. Life is not something that will begin when you have achieved A, B, and C. Life is happening NOW. And what you are thinking is how you are living. So ask yourself again... whaddyathinkin'?
