L.A. City's backyard crested friends can thank city cutbacks and homeless pit bulls for uninterrupted morning performances. Budget cuts in service, salaries, and personnel, particularly in the animal services department, will spare roosters new restrictions on their cackling.

In response to last fall's complaints about loud birds, new restrictions were proposed to limit rooster ownership to one per household and to impose tighter noise parameters. Although the City Council was set to vote on these new restrictions recently, it has been determined that the city simply cannot afford to enforce such ordinances. The city has decided to examine other priorities at this time.
