Increases in California fees for waste management are already seen in the lower half of the state. County officials in Los Angeles have approved a trash fee hike in the Malibu and Antelope Valley areas ranging from a 35-50% increase that will affect approximately 5,000 households. The increase, slated for July 1st inception, is the result of inflated fuel prices.
Other California cities face potential fee increases for waste management as well as an increase in construction fees. Currently, areas in question include Santa Clarita, Newhall, and Gorman. The fee increases in those cities are designed to pay for a new Sherriff's station in the area and will be discussed at a public hearing on June 24th.
