If you are getting ready to sell your home or if your home is currently on the market or its sitting empty waiting for a buyer, you may really want to consider keeping your energy costs down to a minimum.

If you take a minute and think about it you just might realize that you may be spending money on items that you really are not using and all the while you're just throwing money away. Here are some tips on ways to save money while your home is selling.

First, turning things off you don't need such as appliances. Despite the fact that the toaster oven isn't being used, if it's plugged into the wall socket it is still drawing power. There are many energy-hungry appliances that continue to use energy and drain your bank account.

Other items that you should consider unplugging are things like water fountains. When you are showing your home you can simply plug it in to demonstrate that it works and then unplug it again when you are finished. Therefore your potential buyers knows the item works and you know you are saving money by keeping it unplugged when its not needed.

If you are selling your home don't forget to show it off like it's a model home and that means hiding electrical cords. After unplug appliances like the hairdryer, the toaster, the blender and the juicer, hide the cords as well. By doing this you are not only saving money but you are also de-cluttering your home at the same time.

And don't forget that this isn't just great advice for just sellers it's also great advice for all of us to use each day. Every little bit helps and it may not be seen like tremendous savings each month, but over time it does add up.
